You need to work with this company just so that you can experience how anal retentive a recruiter can be. The actually forward you a “interviewing tips” document that include such interviewing tip gems as“clean the dirt out from under your fingernails”.

I dealt with Megan Curry and her trusty sidekick Lawrence Woodall. Lawrence is the grunt. Megan has the warmth of a popsicle

MRI has a bunch of loosely connected offices. From my dealings with them, they appear like sort-of-unconnected franchisees.
One that I dealt with a long time ago tried to set me up with a job that I had no qualifications for. They were looking for a manufacturing supervisor with experience, and I am simply a engineering tech. Another case of keyword match without the recruiter understanding what he was looking at. He actually admitted that he didn't understand any of the terminology he was dealing with, as his degree was in accounting or something. He was a nice person, he just didn't understand what he was recruiting for.
The most recent contact with them (a completely different office) was from a guy that was selling jobs in an industry that has taken a lot of hits lately, and is still very uncertain. I turned it down, but he gushed about how good the company was and told me to call back if I changed my mind. I did based *only* on his words about pay and company benefits and how well the company treats employees. He flip-flopped with a "I need you to be 100% on this, end of story. Buh-bye." Oh well!

MRI is an old 1960s firm which used to just recruit full-time middle management and sales people.

When the government decided to let in droves of mediocre Indian programmers during the DotCom boom, MRI, Manpower, Kelly Girls, and other firms decided go after some of the contract and contract-to-hire of the downsizing.

Each office is a franchise today, operated by a wide variety of people. Some hate contractors, because they see them as interfering with placement of full-time workers.

Others want to play all sides of the game, and just make a quick dollar.

Others are professionals who understand how things have changed and try to work with you and HR to get a good fit.
