When Recruiters Spam Sysadmins

What a bizarre concept it is to be a systems administrator looking for work. People have systems, and people with systems need systems administrators to make them work. Whether these systems are used for file storage, websites, or email, it is the systems administrator's duty to fight abuse and spam.

It isn't like I am some jerk hell-bent on pointing the finger and saying nasty things. There are plenty of those people out there on the Internet for that. And porn. But in this day and age, with so many useful applications on the Internet, securing a job should be a no-brainer. And it isn't. And here's why...

People don't pay attention to what they're doing. This is evident in the behavior of those assholes on the highway, in your inbox, and most politics. People don't care that they're operating a two ton machine at high speeds -- at you. People don't care that they allow certain companies to screw them repeatedly. And people don't care how they use the Internet at all.

And this is what makes people like me put together websites like this. Garbage in, garbage out you might say, but I hope that when I fling this garbage out there hard enough, it will stick to the right things. I just got so sick of the same crap from the same people, and had to make sure that the right crap sticks to the right people. And we can see them listed. And their crap.

Today I got another email from this recruiter about another position nowhere near me, across multiple states at a distance of many hundreds of miles. He missed it when I asked him not to subscribe me to his list, and missed it when I told him again not to send me jobs nowhere near me. I get the same response from onlinw recruiters whether I answer their ad, send a resume, flame-on, or ignore them. It is baffling and incomprehensible that such a useful resource as the Internet can be reduced to ineffectiveness and even a time-vacuum. All you have to do is pick up the phone, and pay attention.
